Welcome to Learning Score!

Learning Score is a new and imaginative take on lesson-planning. Using the metaphor of a music score, Learning Score shows the planned activities for a lesson, and any multimedia attachments, as a graphical time line. Whole lesson plans can be saved, along with all the embedded resources and annotations, to be used again at a later date, or to be shared with colleagues.

Learning Score was invented by John Davitt and grew out of a desire to provide teachers and learners with a modern, flexible, technology-friendly and pedagogically rigorous approach to lesson-planning that is suitable for the 21st-century classroom.

The Learning Score: a teacher empowerment resource

Each lesson consists of:

  1. A visual timeline showing the length of each element of the lesson
  2. The different types of activity that will be carried out by learners and teachers
  3. The actual resources to be used in the lesson such as Presentations, Video clips, website links, worksheets, group and individual activity briefings
  4. The ability to edit
  5. modify or customise each lesson to suit different audiences and learning needs
  6. a way of storing the lessons for future use and for sharing with other teachers, together with a way of making notes about teachers’ experiences of using the lessons.

The benefits - Added value

The Learning Score will add value to the learning process for teachers and participants in almost any educational setting in the following ways:

  • by providing ready-made curriculum content: by creating a repository of pre created lessons and resources you can be sure that staff are delivering to the curricula with reliable and relevant lessons
  • by integrating ICT into the teachers’ own learning processes: the Learning Score is easy to use and very flexible, and will give teachers confidence in the use of ICT in a very direct and practical way
  • as a way of sharing best practice and increasing learner engagement and involvement: the Learning Score is designed to support the process of learner involvement by showing pupils the whole layout of each lesson before it starts and encouraging discussion and negotiation  in the classroom
  • as a way of developing a dynamic and expanding bank of approved teaching resources: lesson plans can be stored centrally by Head of Departments’ and teachers. As teachers become more confident in developing and sharing their own lessons, the store will grow and change to adapt to new curriculum requirements
  • as a way of creating a focus to teacher collaboration: the creation of lesson plans and their associated content is an excellent focus for teachers working together to create high quality learning experiences for their learners.
  • supporting vocational staff deliver with confidence: as demands on all staff  increases to embed English and maths into lessons Learning Score offers the perfect way of supporting these staff members without needing to be physically present.
